Most antenatal classes spend a lot of time preparing youfor labour and birth. That’s important. Knowing what your options are, understanding what’s happening in your body and feeling confident walking into the birth room can make a huge difference.

But birth is only one day.

The real journey begins when you bring your baby home, and suddenly, you’re trying to make sense of feeding, sleep, recovery, your changing relationship, and the enormous responsibility of caring for a brand-new little person.

Too many parents come home feeling unprepared because the reality didn’t match what they expected. While no one can predict exactly how birth will unfold, understanding the physiology of labor, exploring different birth pathways, and discussing real-life case studies can help you prepare, visualize your options, and make informed choices along the way. Just as importantly, we’ll prepare you for the weeks that follow, when life with a newborn really sets in.

This program is designed to help you understand the evidence behind your options, advocate for informed choices that are right for your family rather than simply following routine policies, and step into parenthood feeling prepared from the very beginning.

Before Birth (Three Online Sessions)

Together we’ll look at:

  • Understanding how babies are designed to develop, and why knowing their biology makes every day, parenting feel far less overwhelming.
  • Preparing for the early weeks, including newborn behavior, feeding, sleep, and the huge adjustment that comes with becoming a parent.
  • Creating a realistic postpartum plan, looking beyond the hospital bag to your home environment, support network, and recovery.
  • Looking after yourselves as parents, including the emotional changes, shifting relationships, and protecting your own wellbeing.
  • Preparing for birth, helping you understand your choices, navigate the maternity system, and approach labor with confidence.

After Birth (Two Follow-up Sessions)

Once your baby has arrived, we meet again.

By then you’ll have real questions rather than hypothetical ones, and those sessions become an opportunity to work through whatever is happening for your family.

Common topics include:

  • Child-led feeding and understanding your baby’s cues.
  • Understanding normal newborn sleep and why babies wake.
  • Building confidence in responding to your baby’s communication.
  • Troubleshooting any early challenges before they become overwhelming.
  • Helping you settle into family life with reassurance, practical strategies, and evidence-based guidance.

Every family is different, so these sessions are shaped around your needs rather than a fixed script.

Preparing for More Than the Birth

Birth is an important milestone, but it isn’t the finish line.

The first few weeks lay the foundations for feeding, sleep, attachment, confidence, and family life. When you understand what’s biologically normal, many of the things that seem worrying suddenly make much more sense.

Our aim is to help you approach those early weeks feeling informed, supported and confident—not because you’ll have all the answers, but because you’ll understand your baby, trust your instincts and know where to find support when you need it.
